Getting to know Rebekah McCammon

Hi there, I'm Rebekah! Hello! I think it’s wonderful you’ve decided to begin work toward new personal growth and change. I’ve been engaged in clinical work now for 11 years. As a primary therapist, I’ve worked extensively within residential and outpatient dual diagnosis settings where the focus was on group work and individual therapy for individuals who struggled with addiction and mental health. I have also worked in clinical settings where the focus was on individual and group therapy for children, adolescents, young adults, and families. I believe in a person-centered, humanistic approach. I consistently practice unconditional positive regard, and I am passionate about joining with people in honor of individual life stories. I believe that music is a wonderfully effective form of stress reduction. I often encourage sharing of favorite songs during sessions, which is meaningful and uplifting for my clients. I encourage the identification of specific self-care and personal productivity goals at the conclusion of each session to strengthen consistency in honor of self daily. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Cardinal Stritch University, which has deeply informed my clinical approach. My approach I utilize a dialectical behavioral approach along with a cognitive behavioral approach to encourage individual connection with self as an emotional, behavioral resource. I believe in the four core areas of dialectical behavior therapy: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. As DBT is a modality I believe to be genuinely beneficial, I often introduce and discuss specific skill sets from each of the four core areas and provide skill modules at the end of sessions. During sessions, I often introduce and utilize different mindful meditations and deep breathing exercises.
