Richard Cabada, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I have over 14 years of experience helping clients overcome mild to acute and chronic mental health disorders across nearly all DSM facets. I have worked with children, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds through phone, text, and face-to-face sessions. My experience spans outpatient, inpatient, field, crisis, acute psychiatric, child protective, veteran, government, school, hospital, hospice, victims of crime, corporate, and private practice settings, both locally and internationally. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Smith College. My approach I am well-versed in Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Experiential, Humanistic, Trauma-Focused, Attachment-Based, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, Narrative, Play, Art, and Strength-Based therapies. I find myself most drawn to the teachings of Norman Vincent Peale, Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill, Larry Wilson, and Stephen Covey. My focus I have no ideal client. I strive to be open to all people and their concerns. I prioritize learning from every client and the therapeutic process, hoping they learn from me as well. My communication style I am generally silly and spontaneous but can be extremely structured when necessary. I have been described as having an amiable and analytical personality. I can be very direct and responsive when needed. I enjoy educating clients on the latest neuroscience related to behaviors, habits, and mindsets we work to develop in therapy. My goals for you I believe success is best measured by asking yourself: Has my life improved? In what ways? What am I doing routinely to maintain this progress? The clearer these answers are, the more success you will find in any area of life. My first session with you Our initial meeting will be a relaxed conversation aimed at understanding your needs and goals. I will offer an honest education on what therapy can achieve and its limitations.
