Getting to know Richard Clark

I have been counseling individuals, couples, families, and children for over 25 years in private practice, non-profit organizations, hospitals, clinics, and schools. Working in diverse settings, I?ve gained valuable training and experience from many perspectives and incorporated this knowledge into guiding resolution for each unique client?s challenges. I earned my Master?s in Counseling Psychology from National University and hold a Bachelor?s degree from California State University, Long Beach. This foundation, combined with my extensive experience, informs my approach to therapy. My approach I focus on Brief Solution Focused Therapy, working with you to build on your strengths and implement strategic steps to improve your life immediately. Whether facing a critical problem, a significant life challenge, or looking to enhance what you are doing, together we can find a way forward to a better you. My focus I work primarily with adults and couples addressing life?s daily challenges. The world has become complicated, and challenges seem to be growing. My goal is to help you find solutions you can implement weekly to make progress on your goals. My communication style I approach therapy in a comfortable, casual manner, using humor and metaphor liberally. Studies show the key factor in counseling outcomes is a strong therapeutic alliance with close rapport. I work hard to help us achieve that relationship. My journey to therapy Earlier, I worked in engineering. Solving problems and making things work better was something I enjoyed. After studying Industrial Psychology, my focus shifted toward helping people solve problems and work better. My goals for you It may sound trite, but my goals for you are your goals. Clients come to therapy for a reason?something they want to start doing more, stop doing as much, or improve their thoughts and feelings about. Initially, I focus on making quick progress on what brought you here.
