Richard Clark, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I concentrate on clients who have epilepsy or seizures in their current lives or as part of their "seizure mind" reality. I have lived 78 years—most seizure-free—without meds, using psychological, nutritional, and personal VNS breathing and neurological techniques I created called S-B-See, to balance the negativity and self-destructive thinking of the "seizure mind." My approach I use CBT combined with lifelong understanding and investigation of how the "seizure mind" works and impacts thinking in the human seizure world. My focus I work with people trying to understand how their "seizure mind" impacts and prevents them from becoming the person they want to be. My communication style Clients feel gently pushed and encouraged to first understand their "seizure minds" with quiet humor, then find the courage to shift control away from the "seizure mind," creating and practicing a self-designed new person who is not afraid of the "seizure mind" and moves into the future with a mental companion who loves themselves for who they are. My journey to therapy My 78 years of experiencing how the "seizure mind" has impacted me and how I have resisted its desire to define and limit me have shaped my work. I hold a Master’s in Counseling from the University of San Francisco, which supports my clinical approach. My goals for you Everything we do is goal-setting for an ongoing desire to understand how seizures have impacted your life. Goal setting naturally results from addressing how to create the new person you discover. My first session with you Expect to be a courageous storyteller about how the "seizure mind" has shaped your life.
