My approach to providing counseling is to ascertain where you want to go in life and how I can assist you. I utilize a client-centered approach. I'm like a bus driver; tell me your desired destination and I will help you get there.
My focus
Having worked in social services for over 15 years, I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families. I believe a healthy outlook on life begins with how you feel about yourself and the relationships in your life. Self-worth and positive thinking are crucial to emotional well-being and healthy relationships.
My communication style
It is my goal in every session to provide a safe, positive, and non-judgmental environment. Life can be sad and exhausting, but I try to be lighthearted and infuse humor when applicable. I am straightforward, sincere, and I genuinely care.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was employed as a social worker for many years. I observed individuals struggling, needing more than what was offered at local mental health clinics. So I returned to school and changed professions, earning my Master's in Counseling from the University of Phoenix. I am very passionate about helping others to be successful and happy.

My approach to goal setting is inviting clients to choose their desired direction and then collaborating on an achievable path to reach it.

During the first session, I will discuss my professional credentials, limits of confidentiality, and other initial details. But mostly, the initial session will be an opportunity to get to know each other to ensure we are a good fit. Rapport is very important.
