Hi there, I'm Rivka! I’m a warm and compassionate licensed clinical social worker. I specialize in working with adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and histories of trauma. My approach I believe in using evidence-based approaches, which means that I value becoming informed and trained in these practices. Specifically, I’m trained in EMDR, internal family systems, somatic experiencing and sensorimotor psychotherapy. My focus I work with adults dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties and histories of trauma. My communication style I have a calm and gentle communication style and I aim to meet clients wherever they are in their journeys. My journey to mental healthcare I started on my journey to becoming a therapist many years ago and I hold undergraduate degrees in therapeutic recreation and social work, as well as a master's degree in social work. I’ve previously worked in foster care, in school settings, on a mobile crisis team and as a clinical supervisor in an outpatient mental health clinic. In my personal life, I’ve navigated many challenging life circumstances, which I believe have given me resilience, insight, and empathy for others. I have a deep understanding of trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and parenthood. My goals for you I try to develop treatment strategies that address clients’ concerns in an open, safe and understanding environment. Once I fully understand your unique personality and life circumstances, we will carefully choose the most appropriate therapy techniques suited to your individual needs. My first session with you Because counseling can sometimes be a daunting experience, I aim to put clients at ease from the first moment. Our first session is a chance for us to get to know one another and to develop goals for therapy. While my style is informal and relaxed, confidentiality is always of utmost importance.
