Getting to know Robert Messarge Jr
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia, specializing in treating relational issues, adjustment disorders, anxiety, and depression. I have worked with a wide range of age groups, from children and teenagers (ages 5-18) to adults and older populations (ages 18-65), throughout my therapy career. With over 12 years of clinical experience, I have provided services to diverse clientele in residential, school, and private practice settings.
I earned both my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Liberty University, graduating with honors. In addition to my clinical work, I have participated as a psychological researcher at Liberty University.
As a husband and father, I deeply understand how communication, conflict resolution, and boundaries contribute to building healthier relationships. I am passionate about helping others develop healthier relationships not only with those around them but also within themselves, while establishing coping skills to promote better emotional regulation and overall wellness.
What should a new client know about working with you?
During the first session, I believe that it is essential to develop therapeutic rapport and alliance with the client. I would also like to have the client verbalize their experiences in treatment, what works best for them in regards to therapeutic modalities, and their goals/reason for coming into treatment at this point and time. As we continue into our therapeutic journey, I believe that it is imperative to have measurable objectives and goals to assess and measure progress during the client's experience in therapy. I also aim to help empower the client to help build the client's coping skills toolkit as well as their self-esteem and self-worth during the therapeutic experience.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
