Getting to know Robert Zima
I provide compassionate, non-blaming, and collaborative telehealth counseling to male individuals and couples whose lives have been upended by grief, relational conflict, and shattered dreams. Unresolved pain and fear from "doin' life" often fuel anger, anxiety, and addictive behaviors that damage relationships and make life feel like a “cardboard dirt sandwich with a side of sawdust.”
Using Narrative Therapy, I help clients separate themselves—and their loved ones—from the problems they face, externalizing issues rather than internalizing them. You are not the problem. Other people are not the problem. Problems are problems. Your problems do not define you, but how you interpret, address, and live with them deeply impacts your identity, self-esteem, emotional stability, and behavior.
I also integrate Existential, Rational-Emotive Behavioral, Client-Centered, and Gestalt Therapy techniques to empower you to become the expert on YOU. Together, we’ll embrace your values, dreams, skills, and desires to create a life you design—and deserve.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Trinity International University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support you effectively on your healing journey.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I believe that much can be accomplished with just one session. Each session I offer is designed to help an individual or a couple learn about how their personality, temperament and life story impact and drive their cognitive, emotional and behavioral health. I use humor and evidenced based practices to assist each client with the development and use of effective and healthy coping, problem solving and communication skills. When we can embrace the uniqueness of who we are, then we can build a strategy that helps us address our needs and desires for a mentally well balanced life.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
