Getting to know Robert Zima

I work with men and couples who struggle to communicate & problem solve effectively and in healthy ways-the very challenges that often fuel anger and conflict in relationships. Counseling works best when you're willing to trust your instincts, roll up your sleeves, take a leap of faith and advantage of the power of your story and your ability to write what comes next. I offer a collaborative place that encourages candid and fearless engagement, because the more you invest in the process, the more lasting the change. Counseling is for those who WANT it; not NEED it. With evidence-based therapies, authenticity, and a healthy dose of humor, I tailor my counseling approach to meet the needs of men-whether they're seeking individual support or a male perspective in couples counseling. ?I am a strengths-based counselor who works to normalize what we all call "life"-the challenges, changes, and chaos that come with being human. Using humor and a narrative, life-story approach, I help people build the psychological fitness skills needed to improve the quality of their lives.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that much can be accomplished with just one session. Each session I offer is designed to help an individual or a couple learn about how their personality, temperament and life story impact and drive their cognitive, emotional and behavioral health. I use humor and evidenced based practices to assist each client with the development and use of effective and healthy coping, problem solving and communication skills. When we can embrace the uniqueness of who we are, then we can build a strategy that helps us address our needs and desires for a mentally well balanced life.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
