Rodney Guerra is a provisionally licensed mental health counselor in New York State and holds a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University. He takes a warm, integrative approach, drawing from cognitive behavioral, supportive, and narrative therapies to support adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions. Rodney works under the supervision of Margaret Riback, LMHC, Senior Associate Clinician and Clinical Supervisor at Torres Mental Health Counseling Services, PLLC.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Once you schedule an appointment, we will create a secure chart for you in our electronic health record (EHR) system. You will receive a welcome email with instructions on how to create your account. Through this portal, you will be able to complete intake forms and assessments prior to your first appointment. You will also receive appointment reminders by email two days before your session and again two hours beforehand.
The initial appointment focuses on reviewing your assessments, exploring your current needs, and identifying the goals you would like to work toward during counseling. In the sessions that follow, the focus shifts to building a strong therapeutic relationship while providing support and helping you develop the skills needed to work toward those goals.
The length of treatment varies depending on each person’s needs. Your progress will be reviewed periodically so Rodney can determine whether any adjustments to the approach may be helpful in supporting you as you move toward your goals.

Reduced rates may be available to those who are uninsured.
If you have a plan which we are not in-network with we will provide a "super bill" for you to be reimbursed from your insurance carrier. Please note that this option is only available to you if you have out of network benefits. It is in your best interest to contact your insurance carrier to inquire about their process since this can vary by insurance company.
