Rodney Louden, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hello, Rod Louden here. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, with a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Antioch College and a Bachelor’s from the University of Colorado. I have been practicing since 2003. I combine Narrative Therapy, which views the relationship with the problem as the problem, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which highlights how thoughts influence feelings—negative thoughts lead to anxiety, depression, fear, and other challenges. My approach I blend Narrative and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies in a solution-focused way, helping clients make positive changes quickly. I provide tools and skills that help clients change their relationships with anxiety, depression, fear, and more, empowering them to free themselves from these forces. My focus I work with individuals, couples, and families. After 27 years, I retired from the Department of Children and Family Services, where I was a Supervising Children’s Social Worker and Clinical Supervisor. During that time, I maintained a private practice, gaining extensive experience helping clients solve a wide range of problems. My communication style I aim to create a safe, comfortable environment away from chaos. I’m grateful to have earned trust over decades. I’m not a therapist who just listens and asks, “How does that make you feel?” This is a collaboration—I am an ally in the process of change. My journey to mental healthcare At 17, a sibling was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. After many conversations, my mother said, “You would make a great therapist.” That planted the seed. I love helping people create insights that lead to positive life changes. My goals for you Our first sessions will focus on the goals you want to reach.
