Getting to know Rosa Dixon

My name is Rosa Dixon, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 132489) with a passion for helping others develop healthy ways of functioning that bring satisfaction to their daily lives. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from Sonoma State University and a Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Sacramento. My approach is practical and grounded in spirituality, supported by client-centered, humanistic, and eclectic methods. When a person experiences a problem that disrupts their usual functioning, I emphasize separating the problem from the person, even though they are affected by it. This perspective allows for improved management of the situation. My focus is on supporting individuals who struggle with regulating their moods, organizing their thoughts, and activating behaviors to function with a sense of satisfaction. I often work with clients presenting symptoms of anxiety, depression, and challenges related to socio-economic conditions. I provide a welcoming space that offers a sense of security, allowing clients to express themselves freely and process their feelings, thoughts, or fears. My journey to mental healthcare began in childhood, when I naturally supported other children who struggled. This early passion led me into a field of service that has enriched me as much as I give to it. Through processing and understanding my own life, I deepened my commitment to therapeutic work. With innate compassion for those facing struggles, especially when fulfillment feels limited, I am driven to help. My goals for you depend on what you identify as the problem. Safety concerns will always be prioritized, and all goals will be discussed and agreed upon collaboratively. In our first session, you will have time to share your concerns and what you hope to gain from therapy.
