Russell Bader, LCSW

Russell Bader, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1979, and before that, I was an LMFT from 1972, so I have been in the profession for about 50 years. I believe our minds (memories, experiences, and other sense data) determine what our eyes see, and what our ears hear, and form judgements which result in emotions and behaviors. My approach My work is to help my clients recognize the patterns in our minds. By understanding the history and the action of these patterns, I believe that we can change our thoughts, perceptions, and behaviors and emotions. My focus I focus on individuals, single parents, and occasionally couples. I believe that though history can help us highlight many factors, learning to be in the present, aware of our thoughts and how they affect us, is the Key to living a less anxious, more effective life. My communication style I provide a warm, supportive, but very honest environment. My communication style is that of a teacher, historian, and tactician. My journey to mental healthcare My work began after college in 1966 when I became a probation officer/child-welfare worker in L.A. The idea of being independent and a provider was a dream I needed to pursue. I entered California State University at Fresno School of Social Work and earned an MSW. I became an LMFT and practiced independently. Later in '79 I was licensed as an LCSW. My goals for you By helping my clients to understand the workings of the mind and how it influences perception, thought, belief, behavior, and emotions, I believe that we can live lives that are more in our control. I believe that it is essential to learn to be mindful and present-centered. My first session with you Though I will have read any paperwork you have provided, I will begin by asking you what has brought you into therapy at this time. I will gather a profile and a history.
