137 N Oak Prk Ave, Ste 329, Oak Prk, IL
Hi, I’m Russ Myslewicz, LSW, CADC (he/they). I provide therapy for children, teens, and young adults in Oak Park, Chicago, and virtually across Illinois. I specialize in trauma therapy, addiction counseling, neurodivergence, identity struggles, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm. I also support parents of neurodivergent children who are struggling with anxiety, behavior challenges, or feeling misunderstood. My approach is direct, honest, and grounded. I bring curiosity, humor, and compassion into therapy, helping clients make sense of patterns, emotions, and experiences that may feel confusing or overwhelming. I work especially well with people who feel stuck or have had disappointing experiences with therapy, rehab, residential treatment, or court-ordered services. I provide substance use counseling for both chemical and behavioral addictions, including compulsive gaming, pornography, and other repetitive behaviors. I also use child-centered play therapy to help children process trauma, anxiety, and difficult experiences in ways that feel natural and developmentally appropriate. Whether you're seeking therapy for trauma, addiction recovery, anxiety, identity concerns, or support for your child or teen, my goal is to help you better understand yourself, heal from painful experiences, and create meaningful change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is direct, honest, and grounded. I’m not overly formal, and I bring humor into sessions when it fits. I work especially well with people who feel stuck, burned out, or like nothing they’ve tried has really helped. That includes addiction and compulsive behaviors, trauma, self-worth struggles, and people who have felt misunderstood or let down by therapy, rehab, or other systems of care. I also work with children and teens who are struggling at school, at home, or after difficult experiences. In our work together, we’ll start with where you are right now—emotionally, mentally, and in your life. You don’t need to have everything figured out. We’ll move at a pace that feels manageable, focusing first on helping you feel grounded and understood before diving into deeper work. I pay close attention to patterns and connections in what you share and help make sense of them in a way that feels useful and real. Whether we’re exploring painful experiences, addiction, or old wounds, my goal isn’t to fix you, but to help you understand yourself more fully and create lasting change. If therapy hasn’t felt helpful in the past, we can talk openly about what didn’t work and build something that actually fits you.
