Ruth Cohen, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Ruth! I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 30 years of experience working with couples and individuals navigating some of the most difficult and stressful life-changing situations and events. I earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Phillips Graduate University. Before beginning my career as a psychotherapist, I was a registered nurse specializing in labor and delivery, became a certified lactation consultant, and worked as an infertility nurse for many years. Through my own growth, I have come to realize that every person or couple is different in terms of goals, aspirations, and the pursuit of happiness, and that everyone's path to peace of mind is unique. In an atmosphere that is non-judgmental, warm, and accepting, I strive to help each person recognize their strengths, values, and ultimate potential. My approach to therapy is holistic, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution-focused therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, family systems, narrative therapy, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. I encourage people to incorporate meditation and mindfulness into their self-care rituals. Each person and couple is unique and has their own story that needs to be heard in order to learn, achieve their full potential, and create goals together that often result in life-changing insights.
