Ryan Corbin, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Ryan! I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families who are caught in cycles of pain within themselves, with each other, or within the family system they reside in. Individuals looking to break these cycles, find freedom, and move toward healthier living are welcome to join me in meeting their goals. My approach I view therapy as a safe place to explore relationships with people (family, co-parenting, partners) and things (food, money, alcohol). I believe therapy should be a collaborative experience where the client is seen as the ?expert? on their own life. My focus I have primarily worked with youth and children ages 5-20. I have also worked with many individuals involved in court-related matters. I address anger management, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, life transitions, and trauma. Additionally, I train other providers in working with individuals experiencing suicidal ideation. My communication style I can be a rather straightforward provider, but only after I have built the trust necessary to support someone in that way. Working with youth and teens, I've found they often sense when you are sugarcoating things, which can reduce trust. I see therapy as a partnership, so I tailor communication to each person's experience, serving as a supportive guide. My journey to mental healthcare I began my career as a correctional officer at a juvenile hall. During that time, I found I was better at sitting down one-on-one with the kids in our care and getting to know them to help them make better decisions while at the hall. The kids told me I should become a therapist because I was better than the ones they had worked with! I took their suggestion to heart and began researching counseling programs. I earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Counseling from California Baptist University, which has equipped me to support individuals and families in meaningful ways.
