Hi there, I'm Sally!
My name is Sally Hernandez, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master's in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University. For me, therapy is about empowering my clients to become the healthiest version of themselves. I work with adult clients (18+) and have treated a wide range of substance abuse and mental health disorders within both inpatient and outpatient settings.
My approach
Within my therapeutic approach, I utilize trauma-informed and strength-based therapies to support progress toward treatment goals and reduce ambivalence toward the change process. I employ Supportive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing techniques, CBT and DBT concepts, as well as evidence-based breathing and grounding exercises to assist with overall symptom management and emotional regulation.
My focus
I have years of experience as a Primary Therapist in inpatient treatment settings, working with clients struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. Additionally, I have served as a Clinical Supervisor in inpatient care and worked as an Outpatient Therapist serving the US Veteran population. I have been in private practice since 2023.
My communication style
I believe my greatest strength as a therapist is my ability to empathize with my clients. I strive to build collaborative relationships and respect my clients' autonomy within their therapeutic process. I am generally pretty casual in my approach and work to create a friendly, safe environment for my clients.
My journey to mental healthcare
My commitment to the well-being and mental health of others grew from experiencing the impact of my own personal traumas and mental health challenges. My passion is providing empathy, support, and evidence-based care to individuals who may not have the support system I was fortunate to have during the most challenging period of my life.
