Getting to know Sally Walstrom

You feel like something is off. You’re feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, disconnected. You’re having trouble focusing at work or at school. It’s hard to slow down and feel connected with yourself and other people. You want to understand your own reactions, express your needs within relationships, and feel grounded and capable in your day-to-day life. I can help! With over 10 years of experience and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Chicago, I provide LGBTQIA-affirming and trauma-informed therapy for youth, adults, and families. Using evidence-based techniques like expressive arts, somatics, and cognitive and dialectical behavioral skills, I support people in finding meaning and connection after trauma and chronic stress. My style is gentle, collaborative, and compassionately direct. I provide an affirming and attuned therapeutic relationship where you feel truly heard and understood. In our sessions, we'll explore your concerns, develop practical tools, increase awareness and self-love, and create change that aligns with your needs and values. Reach out today and let’s get started.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy is a journey that begins with what matters most to you – the things you want to change, process, or heal from. We'll start by setting goals together - whether it's making specific changes in your life, finding relief from mental health symptoms, developing new strategies to manage stress, attention, or strong emotions, or just getting a little extra support. It's okay if you don't know where to begin - therapy is all about self-discovery. In my practice, I work from a relational, strengths-based, and insight-oriented framework. This means that our work is centered around you, your understanding of yourself, and your personal story. Whether you want to dive in deep through long-term therapeutic work or just need shorter-term support during a transition or particularly turbulent time in your life, the scope of our work is up to you. I firmly believe that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I tailor my sessions to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual client. Together, we will explore the underlying issues driving your concerns, and develop practical tools and strategies to help you move towards a more fulfilling and joyful life.

In-network insurances

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
