Psychotherapist
53 W Jackson Blvd, Ste 1450, Chicago, IL
Our current struggles are often connected to difficult life events and relationships that wear on us over the years. Before we know it, we feel stuck and unsatisfied with life, wondering how things got to be the way they are despite our best efforts. Still, we forge ahead, blind to the ways in which the past shapes the present. In that blindness, we may cling to ways of living that may have once worked in our favor but now rob us of the peace we so desperately seek. But what if you don’t have to carry on like this? What if there are other ways of moving through life, ways that can bring you more fulfillment, ways that exist just beyond your present awareness? Together, we can try to find out.

Getting to know Sam Abboud

Our current struggles are often connected to difficult life events and relationships that wear on us over the years. Before we know it, we feel stuck and unsatisfied with life, wondering how things got to be the way they are despite our best efforts. Still, we forge ahead, blind to the ways in which the past shapes the present. In that blindness, we may cling to ways of living that may have once worked in our favor but now rob us of the peace we so desperately seek. But what if you don’t have to carry on like this? What should a new client know about working with you?

My career has led me to working with people experiencing anxiety, depression, shame, challenges with anger, low self-esteem, relationship issues, family issues, and identity issues. I also help those grappling with complex trauma who may feel overwhelmed or defenseless against their thoughts and emotions. Additionally, I work with men struggling to navigate challenging relationships or break free from unhelpful tendencies like perfectionism, people-pleasing, and avoidance.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Once you contact me, we will set up an initial appointment where we can explore working together. In that initial session, you can let me know what brings you to therapy and how you hope it will help. During our initial appointment we'll start getting a sense of whether it would be a good fit to work with each other. If we decide to continue working together, I'll suggest to meet at least weekly, so that we can start developing a consistent flow to our work together. Sessions are usually 55 minutes long.

More information on payments and coverage

I am in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) PPO plans. If you have this type of plan, we will submit insurance claims directly. You might be responsible for part of the cost if you have a deductible or a copay. We will try to verify benefits before our first appointment, so that we have an idea of what to expect. When contacting me, please remember to add a photo of your insurance card. If you have a different insurance provider (not BCBS PPO), you will be responsible for our full fee each session. We will provide you a bill that you can use to seek reimbursement from your insurance company, provided that your plan has out-of-network benefits
