Samantha Huston, LCPC

Psychotherapist
IL
I’m a licensed clinical professional counselor with specialized training in OCD, specific phobias, and anxiety-related disorders. I work with children, teens, and adults who feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, reassurance-seeking, avoidance, perfectionism, and constant “what if” questions. My style is collaborative, direct, and supportive. Therapy with me is active and intentional, but also human and humorous. We can take the work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously.

Getting to know Samantha Huston

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect a therapist who is warm, engaged, and very familiar with OCD and anxiety, not just generally, but in how they show up day-to-day. I won’t ask you to “just relax,” think positively, or endlessly analyze your thoughts. I specialize in evidence-based approaches for OCD and anxiety, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT), and skills for emotional regulation, tolerance of uncertainty, and behavior change. Sessions are structured but flexible, and we focus on real-life application, not just insight.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start by getting a clear picture of how anxiety or OCD operates in your life, including triggers, patterns, and the ways you’ve tried to cope so far. From there, we collaborate on a treatment plan that’s tailored to you, your goals, and your capacity. Sessions may include psychoeducation, skills practice, exposure work, values-based decision making, and troubleshooting real situations you’re dealing with right now. We regularly check progress and adjust as needed. Therapy isn’t about perfection or doing everything “right”; it’s about building flexibility, confidence, and trust in your ability to handle discomfort without anxiety running the show.
