Getting to know Samantha Wong

I specialize in helping individuals from BIPOC and immigrant communities-especially East Asian clients-navigate the unique challenges of cultural identity, intergenerational trauma, and the complexities of balancing family dynamics with personal goals. You might feel stuck, trying to honor your family's expectations while also wanting to define your own path. Maybe you're struggling with anxiety, depression, or simply feeling unheard and misunderstood, especially in environments where your experiences as a East Asian individual aren't always acknowledged. I understand how difficult it can be to balance cultural traditions with the desire for individuality and mental well-being. I know firsthand how challenging it can be to find a space where you're truly seen without having to explain every part of your experience. In my practice, you won't need to explain the complexities of your cultural background-I already get it. My approach is non-traditional, recognizing that typical therapy methods don't always fit the nuanced family dynamics within East Asian cultures. My goal is to create a safe, judgment-free space where you can explore your challenges and strengths. Together, we'll work on building practical, realistic coping strategies that fit your life and family context, helping you heal, grow, and find peace. You don't have to do this alone-let's take the next step together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note: I do not take any insurances. Working with me means entering a space where you’ll feel safe, understood, and valued. My therapy style is warm, collaborative, and culturally informed, with a focus on creating an environment where you can explore your thoughts and emotions openly. I tailor my approach to your unique needs, often using evidence-based techniques like, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness practices. Together, we’ll identify patterns, set meaningful goals, and develop practical tools to help you manage challenges and create lasting change. I believe therapy is a partnership. My role is to guide and support you while empowering you to take steps toward healing and growth. You’ll find our sessions to be a mix of exploration, skill-building, and self-discovery, all aimed at helping you lead a more authentic and fulfilling life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first sessions, I prioritize getting to know you—your experiences, challenges, and hopes for therapy. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, life adjustments, or intergenerational trauma, we’ll collaborate to create a personalized plan that feels supportive and achievable. A typical session focuses on exploring your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a compassionate and culturally informed space. Using evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques, I help you build practical skills to manage stress, break unhelpful patterns, and foster personal growth. My goal is to guide you toward healing and empowerment. Together, we’ll work to uncover your strengths, address barriers, and create a path to living a more authentic and fulfilling life.
