Getting to know Sandra Crawford

I have worked in the clinical field for more than seventeen years, providing services related to mental health and substance abuse across a variety of settings. The most important elements in therapy for me are honesty and trust; without these, progress is difficult. You will find me genuine and transparent-I do not have hidden agendas or preconceived ideas about the best answer to a problem. My goal is to work toward your goals by using your strengths and honoring your preferences to encourage progress. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of West Florida, which has equipped me with a strong foundation to support individuals through their challenges. My approach to counseling is, above all, person-centered. I believe in building upon your strengths and developing a plan aligned with your beliefs and values. My work utilizes Evidence-Based Practices, primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Mindfulness and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy are also frequently integrated into my work. My primary focus is assisting individuals in their pursuit of recovery from addiction, depression, anxiety, and other life challenges. My ideal client is someone who has a desire for change. You do not have to know what that change looks like or see a path that leads there-we can figure that out together. I find sessions to be most effective when you are able to relax and truly express yourself. Therapy is a cooperative process. I believe it is important to truly listen to those I work with and to ask questions to ensure I am understanding correctly. I was drawn to psychology by my desire to understand why we make certain choices and what makes individuals happy or more fulfilled. I love to learn and approach things with curiosity rather than judgment. I also hold specialized certifications in addiction and the provision of services through telehealth.
