Getting to know Sandra Maness

Hi there, I'm Sandra! Hello, my name is Sandra Kay Maness. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Master’s in Counseling from California State University, Stanislaus. I primarily use CBT, DBT, and EMDR, and am trained in trauma-informed, somatic, and mindfulness methods. My approach I have a multi-modality approach to therapy—driven by the presenting problem, needs, goals, and assessment of the client. My treatment modality is client-centered. I am EMDRIA EMDR trained. Upon client request, I blend therapeutic methodology with Biblical precepts when it provides a therapeutic benefit. My focus I typically work with phases of life, trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression. My focus has been on men and women struggling with communication and relational issues impeding relationships and work performance. My communication style I strive to create a safe environment, not a cookie-cutter approach. After 25 years as a public educator, my tone is established by the client’s distress and emotional status. My goal is for every client to be seen and heard. My journey to therapy I have worked in the service industry all my life. For 19 years, I was a cosmetologist, then spent 25 years as a public school teacher. During these nearly 45 years, I realized I knew how to teach hard concepts and encourage perseverance. This led me to earn my pupil services credential to support at-risk youth. Working with their families, I saw adults needed the same teaching and encouragement with accountability. I returned to college and became a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor—followed by EMDR certification to support trauma-induced relational issues. I am driven by continued client success stories. My goals for you To set goals with a client, a few simple questions are assessed.
