Getting to know Sandy Sickles
My approach to therapy is client-centered, creating a supportive and nonjudgmental space where individuals feel empowered to explore their thoughts and emotions. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing to help clients develop self-awareness, build coping skills, and make meaningful changes in their lives. I work primarily with adults and adolescents dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and stress management. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to navigate life's challenges with confidence and resilience.
Rooted in a person-centered framework, my therapeutic approach emphasizes empathy, collaboration, and unconditional positive regard. I strive to foster resilience and meaningful change by combining evidence-based techniques with a compassionate, collaborative process. My communication style is warm and supportive, ensuring clients feel safe and respected. Sessions are client-centered and collaborative, offering a balance of empathy, encouragement, and practical tools to promote self-awareness and growth. Working with me feels like having a compassionate guide who helps you navigate challenges at your own pace while empowering you to make positive changes.
I was drawn to a career as a therapist by a deep desire to support others in navigating life's challenges and finding resilience through personal growth. I hold a Master's degree in Counselor Education with a focus on School Counseling and Guidance Services from Ohio University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to effectively support clients across diverse settings.
