Getting to know Sara Dabney

Hello there, my name is Sara Dabney, dual licensed in the state of Florida for Clinical Social Work and Massage Therapy. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of South Florida. I would love to work with you toward goal setting for therapy to identify an Evidence-Based Curriculum and approach we can work through together. Some curriculums I am working out of and presenting issues include Anger Management, Substance, Trauma, AFFIRM, Anxiety, Grief, Mindfulness, CBT, and Individual and Couples work. My approach I am an all-affirming therapist who utilizes Motivational Interviewing, Strength-based, Holistic, and person-centered approaches in the therapy setting. My focus I typically work with individuals with a trauma history, anxiety, anger, depression, and those dealing with life transitions including grief, discovering or being a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and anyone open to growth and goal setting. My communication style I work toward setting a tone in the therapy room that is open-minded and relaxed so that we can work toward co-regulation. My journey to mental healthcare While working as a yoga instructor and massage therapist, I discovered a need for more education to ethically serve clients having emotional responses on my table and the mat. During school, I received Title IV funding, which allowed me to specialize in child maltreatment, utilizing Rainbow Kids Yoga in Head Start locations. I believe every step of my education and experience has greatly influenced my practice currently. My goals for you Goal setting is entirely in the hands of the client; I am here to help steer the goal-setting process into something time-based and specific. My first session with you Our first session is geared toward goal setting and getting to know who you are and who you would like to work toward.
