Sara Helseth, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Sara Helseth, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California, providing care statewide via Telehealth. I hold a Master's in Psychology from Pepperdine University. I work with pre-teens, adolescents, and young adults, specializing in anxiety, depression, life transitions, and serious mental illness. I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and a strengths-based approach to help my clients face life's challenges with confidence and practical tools. My approach I tailor therapy to each individual's unique needs. I have found that combining evidence-based methods like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with strengths-based therapy allows my clients and me to collaborate in creating meaningful, practical ways to improve their lives. My focus I enjoy working with pre-teens, adolescents, and young adults managing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, and life transitions. My experience in acute inpatient mental health facilities has prepared me to address a wide range of client concerns. I also support women facing fertility issues, postpartum depression and anxiety, interpersonal relationship difficulties, societal pressures, challenges of being a military spouse, and early parenting struggles. My communication style I communicate in a supportive, nonjudgmental, honest, warm, and empathetic manner. I want my clients to feel comfortable sharing their life experiences as we build a trusting therapeutic relationship. It is my sincere intention that every client leaves our sessions feeling heard, understood, and empowered. My journey to therapy I chose to become a therapist because I have always enjoyed helping people work through their problems. I believe everyone has the capacity to better manage their challenges; sometimes, we just need a little extra support and guidance.
