Getting to know Sarah Baker

I believe that becoming the best version of ourselves requires work, including connecting with emotions, thoughts, and behaviors that can sometimes be uncomfortable to address. I strive to meet my clients where they are in their journey by creating a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic relationship. At times, it may feel difficult to change patterns of behavior or overcome life's challenges; I help guide change to develop a more self-aware and engaged sense of self through a collaborative client-therapist relationship.
I utilize an eclectic approach, understanding that each client's needs are unique and evolve throughout therapy. I believe it is vital to integrate a multicultural and sensitive approach to the therapeutic process. I help navigate therapy using techniques including Client-Centered, Feminist, Cognitive Behavioral, Humanistic, Interpersonal, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief, and Trauma-Focused methods.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Illinois. I earned my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with Academic Distinction and hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Argosy University.
I have experience working with diverse clients in judicial, residential, outpatient, and community mental health settings. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and traveling out west.
