Hi there, I'm Sarah! Hi, I'm Sarah DeWyse, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) based in San Diego, CA. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I'm here to provide compassionate, client-centered care that empowers you to take charge of your mental health and find healing, wherever you are at in your journey. My approach My approach to therapy starts with client-centered care and compassion. I believe that autonomy and choice are integral parts of therapy, which is why I also integrate harm reduction into the care I provide, especially for clients struggling with eating disorders. Overall, as a clinician, I tend to practice from a feminist, social justice, and equity perspective, as our lived experiences deeply impact our mental health. My focus While I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, I also have experience treating other mental health symptoms including anxiety, depression, grief, and PTSD. I am trained in EMDR and provide care for individuals struggling with PTSD symptoms. I also have experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and am passionate about providing affirming care. My communication style In the therapeutic space, I communicate and practice from a place of authenticity, curiosity, and humility. I deeply value and encourage collaboration, as the client is the expert in their own lived experience. My hope is that through building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust and collaboration, true healing can come. My journey to mental healthcare I always knew I wanted to go into a helping profession, and after experiencing my own challenges with food and body image, as well as depression and anxiety, I found my calling to be a therapist. Witnessing vulnerability, strength, resiliency, and growth in therapy is a true gift, and this is part of why I consider being in this profession a true honor and privilege.
