“I have worked with several therapists over the years and I really found Sarah to be a good match for me. She is a great listener but also does a great job challenging me in ways I wouldnt have been able to see without her insight. Its important to me in my recovery that my feelings and concerns are always paramount and she continues to show me this is always number 1. Her professionalism shines through in each session and I feel like she really contributes to my growth and progress during my recovery. It takes a lot of trust to strengthen a relationship this like, and I am glad I found someone who I can truly confide in to help me progress and get through challenging times. ”

“Sarah Freeze is an exceptional therapist who demonstrates a high level of specialized expertise and professionalism in the context of a sincere and safe environment. I was fortunate to have worked with Sarah in a dual capacity during a time in my life when my family and I had experienced a traumatic event. Sarah is truly gifted in her ability to connect with children. She first began working with my five-year-old son shortly after surviving a fire in our home. He had been experiencing separation and social anxiety due to his trauma and was unable to verbalize his fears with the adults in his life. Sarah was able to provide him with a safe space in which he could express himself through play. Sarah offered in depth interpretations and analysis of my son’s play, thus shedding light on his difficulties and the impact of his trauma. He was able to develop a healthy bond with her and a subsequent sense of security that carried him as he processed distressing events. Her thorough and consistent communication provided invaluable tools and insight that enabled us to help our son navigate through his trauma. I also had the opportunity to work with Sarah through EMDR treatment. My therapist had referred me to Sarah due to her in depth knowledge of this highly specialized form of psychotherapy following the fire. Sarah immediately fostered a genuine rapport given her compassionate nature and established a sense of security that enabled me to confront my trauma. She explained the process of EMDR to me each step of the way, providing a feeling of safety that maximized therapeutic efficacy and benefit. Sarah was highly collaborative with my therapist, as well as my son’s educational team, to help apply and carry over therapeutic gains into real-life contexts. I continue to highly recommend Sarah to many people in my life, both professionally and personally, who are seeking an effective and caring therapist. Sarah is fully present with her clients and develops an authentic relationship that promotes healing and growth. She is truly one of the best. ”

Getting to know Sarah Freeze

I support individuals in learning to accept and feel comfortable as they are. My passion is working with clients suffering from big or small life events and helping them find relief through understanding and reprocessing. The people I work with often feel stuck, weighed down, or emotionally on edge due to traumatic or upsetting experiences, recent or long past, chronic or singular. I am driven to this work because I find it unfair that things happen in life, especially in childhood, that are out of our control. I take a trauma-informed approach, understanding how trauma impacts the body, brain, and spirit. This guides our work together and acknowledges the nuances of the human experience during and after trauma. I also take a person-in-environment perspective, considering how environment, society, and culture influence personal development and well-being. I find it crucial to examine the impact of racism, sexism, and heteronormativity on mental and physical health. Some clients prefer weekly therapy, others want to work intensively. Clients appreciate my warm, open, and accepting approach. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York (#089561) and Colorado (CSW.09926638), available in my Denver office or via telehealth. I provide clinical supervision and EMDR consultation for therapists. In 2024, I completed the two-year Adult Psychodynamic Training Program at the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from City University of New York, Hunter College, and my Bachelor’s from the State University of New York at Geneseo. Previously, I served as clinical director at Create Outcomes Psychological Services. I also worked as a therapist for children and adults who experienced sexual abuse, assault, physical abuse, and/or domestic violence at a community agency. Additionally, I have experience as a mental health and addiction recovery coach.
