Psychotherapist
FL
Thank you for taking the time to read about me. I'm an LGBTQ+ focused therapist who is also a member of the queer community. My specialties include gender-affirming care for clients who are in the process of transition or who would like to start transition, couples/relationships including ethical/consensual non-monogamy and BDSM/kink dynamics as well as improving conflict resolution and communication, working with clients recovering from abusive/toxic relationships, single parents and working parents trying to find balance, as well as many other issues commonly treated in counseling. My approach I use a collaborative style of therapy that focuses on pattern recognition and changing/challenging thought processes and ways of coping that aren't getting you to where you want to be. I utilize the Gottman Method with my couples and relationships, focusing on healthy conflict resolution and creating strong communication skills. My approach is non-judgemental, open-minded, and sex/body/kink positive. My focus I've spent my entire career focusing on serving the LGBTQ+ community. As a member of the community, I am familiar with the unique challenges and struggles that we face and am well-equipped to help my clients navigate living authentically and happily. My communication style My communication is direct but gentle. I do my best to be diplomatic and tactful, but I'm always honest and forthright without being judgemental or off-putting. My clients tell me they appreciate my ability to be upfront with them, while also maintaining our therapeutic alliance and the respect I have for all of my clients. My journey to mental healthcare I knew I wanted to be a therapist by the end of my first semester of college, and everything I've done from that point on was in service of that goal. I earned my BS in Psychology and certificate in Behavioral Forensics from the University of Central Florida in 2008 and started my MA in Counselor Education/Mental Health Counseling in 2009.
