Getting to know Sarah Houston

Do you feel like you have uncontrollable racing thoughts? Are you struggling to get rest or feel rested? Are you avoiding situations, places, or conversations to prevent a sense of panic? Have you been told you're more irritable or “aren’t yourself” recently? Do you think your symptoms are interfering with your personal success or relationships? I want to help you restore your peace, as you define it. With a Master’s in Social Work from the University of South Carolina, I bring both education and empathy to my practice. I will work with you not only to decrease and, hopefully, resolve your unwanted symptoms but also to explain why they may be occurring. Many clients have told me they feel less “crazy” after meeting with me and that their overall outlook on past, current, and future circumstances improves.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our first session, I will ask varying questions to get to know you better- this is our “intake.” This may include information such as your medical, social, mental health history, and/or what has led you to come to therapy. By listening to your goal(s), we will formulate a treatment plan together, so that you have an idea of what upcoming sessions will entail! Ultimately, I just want to help my clients to “feel better.” Each person has unique circumstances and goals, therefore, I will teach and apply personalized coping skills and treatment interventions that we identify in your treatment plan. I will also check-in with you at each session to help recognize any changes in stressors or if symptoms have improved/worsened, so that treatment can be modified as new needs arise, or as goals are met.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Sarah has been very friendly and a great listener. She has been open-minded when listening to the traumas I have experienced. She offers some great strategies for ways to think through your feelings and help you guide your mindset to a more positive way of thinking.
