“Super friendly and flexible, I was late because I was with family for Thanksgiving and it was a night appointment, so I completely forgot, but she was extremely understanding and accommodating. I've already made another appointment. ”

Getting to know Sarah Olson

Hi there, I'm Sarah! I'm Sarah Olson, licensed in Virginia, Washington DC, Illinois, and Texas. I believe therapy is a blend of modalities combined with compassion, empathy, and strong listening skills. I enjoy working with young adults and adults experiencing Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Stress Management, Family Conflict, Adoption, Fertility, and young adult-specific issues like college, job searching, and living independently. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Southern Illinois University, which laid the foundation for my clinical practice. My approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Family Systems Therapy. I focus on supporting young adults, adults, and families. I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves. Many appreciate my welcoming nature and my ability to understand and empathize with their feelings. My journey to mental healthcare began in college, where I lived with several women who often sought my advice or confided in me. After exploring a career path that wasn’t the right fit, I attended therapy myself. A clinical psychologist encouraged me to pursue a Master’s in Social Work and become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), aligning with my interest in clinical psychology. My goal for you is to help you identify what you want to work on or improve and to support you in achieving the benefits you seek from therapy. During our first session, you can expect a warm and inviting interaction, along with some basic and clarifying questions to get us started.
