Sarah Schorr, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Sarah Schorr, and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the Los Angeles, CA, area. I earned my Master's in Counseling from California State University, Los Angeles, where I was trained in the School-Based Family Counseling program. This background shapes my systems approach to working with individuals, couples, and families. I primarily work with adolescents and adults to address issues stemming from stress, anxiety, trauma, and depression. My approach I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of each client. I utilize humanistic, systemic, and multicultural counseling theories to understand where presenting issues arise and how best to address them. I find it most helpful when we can identify and work on both internal dynamics and external influences that contribute to the presenting problem. My focus Although most of my experience has been with teens and young adults, my style and approach are a good fit for anyone facing life transitions and social pressures. These challenges often present with symptoms and behaviors linked to anxiety and depression. I work with clients to identify the thoughts, feelings, and external pressures contributing to their difficulties and how these manifest in patterns and behaviors. Together, we build skills to navigate challenges more successfully and cultivate a more positive relationship with themselves. My communication style My communication style is personable and fairly informal. My goal is for clients to feel comfortable discussing anything without fear of judgment. I find that humor and levity help create a warm, comfortable foundation, making it easier to address complicated or emotionally difficult topics. My journey to mental healthcare I have always enjoyed helping others and have worked in a variety of youth and service-oriented fields.
