Getting to know Sayo Matsuda

Hello, I'm Sayo Matsuda, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California. I will be seeing you via telehealth. My specialties include working with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, behavioral challenges, relational difficulties, and communication problems. My approach I utilize DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and am certified in TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Seeking Safety, IPT (Interpersonal Therapy), and the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P). I work with families, parents, and individual clients to provide tailored support. My focus I have worked with diverse populations in Los Angeles, California. Through my clinical experience and former clients, I have gained valuable insight into various cultural beliefs and perspectives on mental health. This understanding helps me connect with and support you more effectively. My communication style I am an active listener who is honest and clear when explaining issues that clients need to understand. My journey to mental healthcare My first name was given to me by my grandmother. Written in Chinese characters, it means "a person who supports the world by the left side." While I don't support the whole world, I do support parts of it. Having my own trauma experience allows me to relate deeply to clients suffering from mental illness. My education I earned my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Mount Saint Mary's University. My goals for you I want my clients to live better lives-feeling better and doing better. Together, we will set achievable goals, and I would be honored to be part of your team in reaching them. My first session with you There will be many questions as I work to understand you. I will take notes while listening carefully to your story.
