"I found that what healed people was getting them to find their hearts, their feeling, their bodies, their brains, which once more brought them to their souls and thus to their humanity. They could express themselves as whole people, which, in turn, helped them to greater feelings of self-worth, to nurturing relationships, and satisfying outcomes. - Virginia Satir I see therapy as a tool to help people navigate their lives in a way that is connected to their authentic self. I approach our work in a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and collaborative manner. Some reasons clients come to therapy include: they are trying to create new habits but fall back on old ones, they feel disconnected from their intuition from years of people-pleasing, they struggle to communicate their wants or needs, or they feel torn down by their own critical thinking. Therapy can help clients process pain, identify patterns of behavior, connect with the intuitive self, set boundaries, and create healthier relationships. Change happens when we are open to experimentation. I bring ideas to therapy, and together we may try out a new behavior, a new thought pattern, or a new boundary to see if it feels right to you. When we find something that works for you, we will repeat it and work to integrate it into who you are and how you approach your life. I strive to balance support with honest feedback. Although I may be direct in bringing to your attention what is no longer working for you, ultimately, what you want to address in therapy or change in your life is totally up to you. It is my aim to provide you with some concrete tools and practices that can help you meet your therapy goals, whatever they may be. I hold a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University, which informs my approach and commitment to supporting clients on their healing journeys."
