Psychotherapist
VA
Hi there, I'm Shannon! Welcome—I’m so glad you’re here. Taking the first step toward therapy is a powerful act of self-care, and I want to acknowledge the strength it takes to explore support. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, navigating big life changes, or simply needing a space to be heard—this is a safe and supportive place for you. My approach I am not your traditional counselor—and that's by design. As a generalist, I’ve intentionally chosen to work with individuals across all ages, backgrounds, and diagnoses. My philosophy is rooted in the belief that life is a journey—98% of which happens outside the therapy room. My role is to equip clients with tools, insights, and resources so they can become their own best advocates. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. No single approach works for everyone, every time. Instead, I encourage clients to explore what works for them personally. I emphasize that change is a shared process—50% of it is your buy-in, your belief in what you're doing. Just because a technique is proven doesn’t mean it will resonate with every person. I’m not the kind of provider who believes people should be in therapy forever. I believe in building autonomy. Our thoughts influence our feelings, which then shape our behavior—but ultimately, we are each responsible for the choices we make. At any moment, we're only one decision away from a completely different life. The most powerful thing we possess is the ability to choose our attitude in any situation. Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we respond. In every challenge, we have three choices: let it destroy us, define us, or inspire us to thrive in spite of it. My focus My approach is compassionate, down-to-earth, and tailored to meet you where you are. Together, we’ll work at your pace to uncover clarity, build resilience, and reconnect you with your sense of direction and self.
