Getting to know Shaqueen Walcott

You don’t have to be in crisis to need support — but if you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns that keep repeating, you’re not alone. Maybe you’re holding it together on the outside while quietly mentally exhausted on the inside. Therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or have all the answers. I work with children and adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship stress, family dynamics, trauma, and life transitions. Together, we’ll slow things down, understand what’s underneath the surface, and build tools that actually help in your day-to-day life. With experience in community mental health, psychiatric care, and family systems, I bring both clinical depth and real-world understanding. My approach is grounded, compassionate, and collaborative. Clients often tell me they feel genuinely heard, clearer about their patterns, and more confident in how they respond to stress. If you’ve been thinking, “I can’t keep doing this the same way,” this might be your next right step.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that you don’t have to show up perfectly or have everything figured out. Many of the people I work with are used to being the strong one — the reliable one — and therapy becomes the one place they don’t have to hold it all together. My approach is steady, thoughtful, and collaborative. I’ll help you understand the deeper patterns behind your stress, anxiety, or relationship challenges, while also offering practical tools you can apply in real life. We’ll move at a pace that feels safe, but with intention. You can expect to feel heard, supported, and gradually more grounded and clear in how you respond to life’s challenges.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins with understanding what’s bringing you in and what you want to feel different. In the first few sessions, we’ll clarify your goals, identify patterns, and create a plan that feels focused and manageable. Based on what you’re experiencing, we may use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you manage anxious or negative thoughts, psychodynamic therapy to explore deeper emotional roots, or family and marital approaches to strengthen relationship dynamics. Throughout the process, therapy is collaborative, supportive, and intentional — giving you both insight and practical tools so you can begin seeing meaningful change in your daily life.
