Sharon Bowen, LCSW

Sharon Bowen, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NC
Hello to all! My name is Sharon Bowen. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) primarily working with older teens and adults via virtual/telehealth means. I completed my Master's in Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2010. Since that time, I have held a number of roles such as case manager, advocate, and mental health therapist for individuals of all ages. I have worked in private practice, hospital, and community settings. I understand that therapy can be a scary step to take, but my goal is to support you along this journey. Whether it is your first time or you have seen others in the past, I want to meet you where you are in the therapeutic process so we can move forward together. Therapy can bring out all sorts of feelings, so I strive to provide a safe and open environment built on mutual respect. I have experience working with a variety of mental health and life concerns, with primary areas of focus including depression, anxiety, life transitions, sexuality, and trauma. I look forward to getting to know you soon!

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our first session, we will get to know one another. I firmly believe in knowing a client beyond their problems so I want to talk about who you are and not just what concerns you right now. As we have additional sessions, we will dig into the various topics of concern as they arise. The plan will be to start with your goals and where you are in your therapeutic process and move forward at the pace that best fits your needs.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
