Sheena Kelly, LPC

Psychotherapist
GA
Sheena Kelly, MSMFT LPC(GA), LPCTMHC (SC), LCMHC-A (NC), NCC, is a licensed professional counselor with over 6 years of experience in the mental health field. She earned her Master's in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from Walden University. Sheena has worked in private practice, community agencies, and adoption agencies, which has helped her develop a broad perspective on individual experiences. She has advanced training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), providing her with additional tools to support clients on their journey. Therapy is an individualized process, and the most effective approach for one person may not be the best for another. We will work collaboratively to determine the most appropriate techniques to meet your unique needs and goals. The top three approaches I generally use are Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavioral. Humanistic therapy emphasizes the client's subjective experiences and values; within this framework, I provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment to help clients explore their emotions and develop greater self-awareness and self-acceptance. Psychodynamic therapy is based on the idea that unconscious thoughts and experiences influence behavior and emotions. Using this approach, I help clients explore and understand these unconscious factors to promote healing and personal growth. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected and aims to help clients identify and change negative patterns. There are many theoretical approaches to therapy, and I may use a variety depending on the client's needs and goals. Typically, I work with clients aged 13 to 99 whose anxiety and depression interfere with daily life. These clients may be newly experiencing symptoms, have trauma-related issues, or face challenges stemming from relational difficulties.
