Sheila Hines, LMFT

Sheila Hines, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hello and welcome! My name is Sheila Hines, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I have been providing therapy for a wide variety of issues and populations for a little more than 25 years. My experience includes working with individuals, couples, and families in private practice, non-profit organizations, and substance abuse treatment facilities for family members of loved ones with chemical dependency. I graduated from Antioch University in 1995 with a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I strive to create a caring, compassionate, and non-judgmental atmosphere where everyone feels respected and free to be themselves. My approach is strength-based, using eclectic strategies that pull from multiple orientations with an emphasis on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT teaches the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Research shows that Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is the most effective therapy for treating anxiety disorders, depression, and stress. In addition, as one who has personally experienced what it means to be sensitive and feel deeply, I provide strength-based support for those whose sensitivity and uniqueness are often misunderstood, confusing, and overwhelming. I look forward to working together and building a collaborative and trusting relationship.
