Shereece Savoy Simpkins, LCPC, LPC

Psychotherapist
MD
Since childhood, I've had a strong desire to help people. That desire grew into helping individuals identify what they need to create a fulfilling and enriching life through self-discovery and acceptance. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Capella University and a Bachelor’s from Xavier University of Louisiana. As a licensed therapist in Maryland and D.C. and a certified infant and early childhood mental health provider for over 11 years, I understand that in creating the life you want, sometimes healing and restoration must take place. Helping people acknowledge and understand the integral parts of themselves through acceptance, self-love, and security in who they are is the focus of my practice and at the core of the work we will do together. I also provide supervision for those seeking full licensure in Maryland and D.C.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in working with individuals who are passionate about self-discovery, experiencing difficulty adjusting after a life change or traumatic event, and managing symptoms related to a mood disorder, anxiety, personality disorder or co-occurring disorders. My work with families includes assessment, trauma and parent management training and counseling. The goal is never perfection, but rather to build security, create community and create a life where acceptance is not only tolerated but necessary. Connect with me today and begin on the journey to creating the life you need and want.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Potential clients are required to participate in a free, virtual 15-minute consultation. That time will allow us to determine if, and how we plan to move forward with treatment that best suits your needs. Have to determining we are a good match, The client completes their virtual intake forms, all which can be signed electronically, and will then proceed with scheduling their first three appointments. All which are done through their private chart via the electronic medical records system Simple Practice. The initial session lasts about an hour, and includes a bio-psychosocial, which explores history, symptoms, treatment, patterns of behavior, and diagnoses. By the third session a treatment plan will be developed; tailored to the specific needs of the client
