Hi there, I'm Sherry!
Hello, I am Sherry Aaker. I am a licensed professional counselor in the states of Georgia and Florida. My focus is on depression, anxiety, trauma, military veterans, and caretakers.
My approach
My approach is simple: Cognitive Behavior Theory and Solution Focused.
My focus
I help individuals grappling with overwhelming stress, loneliness, and hopelessness. I help these individuals get to the root of their challenges as they discover and understand that they have hope in God, who is the Great Counselor. Through our work together, my clients experience peace and wholeness and feel safe and secure in growing through Christ.
My communication style
I integrate authentic interpersonal skills with proven techniques for each client. I point clients toward understanding that God is the ultimate source of guidance and comfort. Together, we can work toward finding solace, healing, renewal, and a revived sense of hope.
My journey to mental healthcare
I worked in higher education administration for 40 years. I became disabled and decided to go back to work. At 60 years old, I began counseling. I realized that this type of work is what I need to do at this time in my life. I feel driven to help others.
My education
I hold a Master’s in Counseling from Liberty University, an EdD from Tennessee State University, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University.
My goals for you
Through our collaboration, we can set goals to overcome unbearable pain and experience comfort, renewal, and rejuvenation. It is easy to stay in bed, consume chips, and ignore your overwhelming feelings. Let me point you toward ways to intentionally get better. Most importantly, we can discover a hope that is safe and secure.
