Sherry Marshall, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
I am highly trained and deeply committed to helping teens and families thrive. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling, advanced training in Christian counseling, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with certifications in school counseling, trauma-informed care, youth mental health, and human resources. I am also completing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership, where my research focuses on mental health needs and counselor workload. My education and experience allow me to blend clinical expertise with a strong understanding of how families, schools, and communities shape well-being. I love working with teens because adolescence is a powerful and challenging season. I have supported young people through anxiety, grief, trauma, identity concerns, academic stress, and family conflict, and I am passionate about creating a space where they feel seen, supported, and understood. I also work closely with families, helping them improve communication, strengthen relationships, and build healthier patterns together. My practice is guided by faith, compassion, and professionalism. I offer biblically based counseling for clients who desire it, while always maintaining a safe, respectful, and evidence-based approach. Above all, I am a counselor who listens. I honor your experiences, respect your values, and work with you at a pace that feels right as we move toward healing and growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you are truly heard. I take time to understand your story, your strengths, and what you hope to change. My style is calm, empathetic, and collaborative. I won’t rush you, and I won’t push you into anything you’re not ready for. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused strategies, Trauma-Informed Care, Strength-Based counseling, and Family Systems techniques. I tailor each session to your needs, offering both practical tools and deeper insight to help you move forward. I believe therapy should feel safe and empowering. I will guide you, challenge you gently when needed, and celebrate your progress. Our work is a partnership, and your goals will lead the way. My hope is that you leave each session feeling supported, understood, and more equipped to navigate life with confidence and clarity.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first session with me is focused on comfort, clarity, and connection. I want you to feel welcomed, understood, and supported from the moment we begin. We will start with a brief conversation about what brings you to counseling, what you hope to gain, and any concerns or questions you may have about the process. There is no pressure to share everything at once. You set the pace, and I will guide the session gently and respectfully. Most importantly, the first session is about building a connection. You can expect kindness, patience, and guidance as we begin your journey toward healing and growth.
