Shevan Breaux, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Shevan Breaux, and I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Riverside, California. I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology from California Baptist University. Through telehealth, I work with clients statewide, specializing in adolescents and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, and stress management. I use a variety of methods, including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. My approach to therapy varies. I like to begin with a Person-Centered approach to get to know my clients and meet them where they are. Through ongoing collaboration, my approach adapts based on their needs. For example, we may use a Cognitive Behavioral approach for anxiety or depression. Or, if a client wishes to explore meaning and purpose, we might take an Existential approach. Through experience, I have found that this flexible approach is a good fit for adolescents and adults working through anxiety, stress, and depression. My goal is to work myself out of a job by helping clients build sustainable skills for continued success after therapy ends. My communication style is open, personable, and relaxed. I want clients to feel comfortable and confident discussing anything in a judgment-free environment. I find fulfillment in helping others navigate their difficulties. I fell in love with psychology after my first high school course and was often told I was insightful and helpful when peers sought my guidance. Having experienced depression myself, I am passionate about providing the therapeutic support I wish I had accessed years ago. When setting goals, I collaborate with clients to develop SMART goals: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely.
