Hi there, I'm Shirley! I am Shirley Barthelemy, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Life Coach. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University and a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University. With over 10 years of diverse experience in the mental health and substance abuse community, I specialize as a Divorce Recovery Therapist. My passion is working with women who are in the beginning, middle, or final phases of divorce. I help them navigate the grief of losing their marriage while addressing the various emotions experienced during the stages of grief. In addition to divorce recovery, I have worked with clients facing stress, self-esteem challenges, adjustment to change, grief/loss, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I teach women healthy coping skills to help them reclaim their lives through a holistic approach. This approach focuses on the mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual health of each individual. My goal is to help women find a path to healing by creating a therapeutic atmosphere where they feel safe, validated, and free to express themselves without judgment. I support them in practicing self-love and recognizing their worth despite past experiences. My approach includes therapeutic modalities such as CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, trauma-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and strength-based techniques. I emphasize a holistic approach that addresses the whole person, not just the mental aspect but also physical, emotional, spiritual, and social health. I typically work with adult women ages 18 and up, and I also have experience working with families, including both adults and children. I feel most comfortable treating issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, grief/loss, infidelity, low self-esteem, coping with change, domestic violence, and divorce.
