Sidra Naqvi, LPC Associate

Psychotherapist
300 N Coit Rd, Ste 350, Richardson, TX
I work with adolescents, young adults, and adult women who are carrying more than others can see. You may be the dependable eldest daughter, the person who keeps the peace, or someone trying to make decisions while balancing family expectations with your own needs. I have a particular interest in supporting South Asian and Muslim women, immigrants, first-generation and bicultural clients, college students, and single mothers. You do not have to belong to any of these communities to work with me. My work focuses on anxiety, difficult family dynamics, people-pleasing, boundaries, self-esteem, grief, and healing from relationship trauma, domestic violence, divorce, or a breakup. My experience working with immigrant women in a domestic violence shelter shapes the care I bring to conversations about safety, trust, and rebuilding a sense of choice. Therapy with me makes room for the whole context of your life, including culture and faith when they matter to you. We can explore how to speak up, set boundaries, and move forward in ways that feel true to you. I also speak Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can come in feeling uncertain about what to say. Many people I work with are used to being “the strong one” or explaining their choices to everyone else. In our sessions, you will have room to talk about your own needs without having to minimize them or defend the people you love. I bring a warm, thoughtful, culturally responsive approach. If family loyalty, faith, immigration experiences, or community expectations are part of your story, we can include them in the conversation. I will not assume that setting a boundary means cutting someone off, or that healing from a relationship follows a straight line. We may talk about guilt after saying no, the pressure to meet everyone’s expectations, or the way an abusive relationship can leave you doubting your judgment. We can also make space for grief after a divorce or breakup, the demands of college or early adulthood, and the complicated feelings that come with being a first-generation or bicultural woman. My goal is to help you understand the patterns that keep you stuck, feel more grounded in your decisions, and reconnect with your voice. We will move at a pace that respects your circumstances. You deserve care that sees you as a whole person, including the relationships and communities that matter to you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will start by talking about what brings you to therapy, what feels hardest right now, and what you hope might change. You do not need a polished explanation or a clear goal on day one. I will ask about your current concerns and relevant parts of your history so I can understand your experiences in context, including family, relationships, culture, faith, and identity when they are meaningful to you. Together, we will identify a few priorities. For one person, that may mean managing anxiety and learning to set boundaries without being overwhelmed by guilt. For another, it may mean making sense of a breakup, rebuilding trust after an abusive relationship, or figuring out who they want to be outside of family expectations. As we continue, we will notice patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and relationships, talk through situations you are facing, and consider changes you can try between sessions. I will check in with you about what feels useful so our work stays connected to your goals. We can adjust the focus as your needs change. If talking about trauma or difficult family dynamics feels overwhelming, we can slow down. You have a say in what you share and when. My role is to support you in finding more clarity, safety, and confidence in the choices you make.
