Getting to know Sierra Kihlstadius

Hello and welcome! I'm Sierra. I'm a queer, anti-racist Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Atlanta, Georgia. I earned my Master's in Social Work from Kennesaw State University and began my career as a therapist at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. If there is one thing I learned from that time, it's that, more often than not, it's not you-it's the system. Since then, I have been helping fellow women and members of the LGBTQ+ community rebuild self-esteem, manage anxiety, and heal unresolved trauma. I also support families of LGBTQ+ youth in gaining understanding about their child's experience and empower them to provide the best support they can. We all have certain narratives we tell ourselves about ourselves-some helpful, some not-and some of those stories aren't even ours. My goal is to help clients identify the unhelpful stories, understand where they came from, and create a new story. I like to incorporate both CBT/DBT coping skills and Jungian concepts such as inner child work to ensure a holistic healing approach for my clients. Whatever your healing journey looks like, I would consider it an honor and a privilege to walk it with you.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Great therapist, going on year 3 of working with her and I always look forward to our appointments
I really enjoyed my session with Sierra today and im looking forward to being able to do more sessions. She was so nice and genuinely pleasant to talk to :)
I’ve been in therapy for over a decade and Sierra is by far the best therapist I’ve ever had. Since our first session, I could already tell that she really does care about her clients as well as respects them. She’s a great listener, gives amazing advice, and provides very helpful coping skills.
Sierra's professionalism and efforts have been directly responsible for my vastly improved mental health. She understands how to untangle the complex narratives that have led to stress, and instead push and challenge for a more constructive mindset. My mental health is better because of Sierra's work.
Sierra is the kindest individual, caters the process to my needs and always checks in to make sure I'm getting valuable and genuine help out of our sessions.
Sierra listens well and challenges me to pursue healing strategies. I especially appreciate that she gives me something helpful to work on between sessions, helping me maintain momentum.
Sessions with Sierra have been so eye-opening and she has provided me with such a different perspective on everything I struggle with. I truly enjoy the sessions even on more challenging days, because Sierra meets me where I am at and works with me through scenarios in order to develop solutions. I feel empowered and even encouraged to focus on myself as I go through my therapy journey after my sessions with Sierra.
They wouldn't allow me to pick more than two options, however, Sierra is the best therapist I've ever had, and I've been in therapy for a few years now. She's very helpful in helping me deal with my tough moments, especially with certain memories and helpful in finding different tactics for me to help myself in certain moments, when I'm feeling helpless. We've only had a few sessions, but I love the way that things have been going thus far. I definitely recommend her if you want to feel safe and seen, as well as heard in a number of different ways
