Sky Gavis-Hughson (they/them) is a Licensed Certified Social Worker in Massachusetts and a psychotherapist at And Still We Rise. Sky believes that we heal in relationships and brings an intersectional social justice lens to their work. Their clinical approach includes supporting clients to build the lives they want to lead; building concrete coping tools; unpacking how privilege and oppression impact clients’ lives and the therapeutic relationship; and offering a nonjudgmental, trauma-informed therapeutic space. Their work draws from dialectical behavioral therapy, solutions-focused therapy, supportive psychodynamic work, narrative therapy, and somatic approaches. Sky is currently enrolled in Level I Sensorimotor Psychotherapy training, a modality that seeks to tap into the wisdom of the body to heal trauma and attachment issues. Sky is passionate about serving LGBTQ+ people; neurodivergent, chronically ill, and disabled people; and people with experiences of interpersonal trauma. They are committed to continual self-reflection and action as a White clinician striving to be antiracist. Sky has a background in trans community organizing and community mental health. They have led workshops and training on healthy community conflict and on gender affirming mental health care in integrated health settings. Sky holds a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Yale University and a Master’s in Social Work from Simmons University. In their free time, Sky enjoys riding their bike, crocheting, cooking, and dog cuddles. Sky is fluent in English and conversationally fluent in Spanish and French.
