Getting to know Sloan Post

Sloan specializes in supporting individuals going through a transition. Often, people find Sloan when there has been a lifestyle change and daily functioning is not what it used to be. She holds a Master's in Social Work from City University of New York, Hunter College, and is trained in Perinatal Mental Health. Sloan supports perinatal individuals and those considering building or expanding a family through the often overwhelming journey of pregnancy and caring for young children. She offers a trauma-informed space where she uses her training in evidence-based practices to help clients heal and build their repertoire of healthy coping mechanisms.

What should a new client know about working with you?

With a customized toolkit that blends the approaches I received training in, you will be able to gain a stronger understanding of your challenges, manage daily stressors, and develop strategies for communicating boundaries, needs, and desires. This will help you feel more in control of your life and strengthen the bond you have with your partner, friends, children, and more. Balance is achievable. Working with a therapist who specializes in working with mothers, young adults, and children/teens, you can find your footing amidst the chaos as you develop more trust in yourself and the world around you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to counseling draws from a variety of traditional therapeutic modalities. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), I will help you welcome your emotions and gain a newfound awareness of how your thoughts impact your behaviors. Using my Perinatal Mental Health (PMH) training I work with you from an evidence-informed perspective. Using the Safe and Sound Protocol, you can learn how to access a sense of safety and regulation when stressors become overwhelming. Using the Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) model I will help you consider the nature of your attachment with your baby or young child and how to continually support this relationship.
