Getting to know Socorro Espinosa Saavedra

Hello/Hola, I'm Socorro—my name is Socorro Saavedra, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in California. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from San José State University. My goal in therapy is to help clients reach their full potential by healing past trauma and supporting the maintenance of their mental well-being. I work with children, adults, couples, and families facing depression, anxiety, significant life transitions, as well as challenges in parenting. My approach My theoretical approach is eclectic. I tailor my interventions and treatment to meet the needs of each individual client. However, I believe that a fundamental human need is to be heard, seen, and respected in healthy relationships. I approach all my clients in a warm, empathic, and nonjudgmental manner. I have extensive training in Attachment Theory, Trauma-Informed Practice, Family Systems, Solution-Focused, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My focus I enjoy working with clients from diverse ethnic, cultural, and religious/spiritual backgrounds. One of my specialties is working with parents to help them learn relationship-based parenting skills. As a "parenting coach," I focus on the parent-child relationship to address children’s behavior challenges that occur both at home and at school. My passion is to help clients overcome childhood traumas and lead happy, fulfilling lives. Trauma can often manifest in symptoms of depression, anxiety, unexplained anger, social anxiety, and relationship difficulties. My communication style My communication style is calm and supportive; I want my clients to feel safe in their journey toward healing. I pride myself on my ability to meet my clients’ communication and sensory needs. My journey to therapy I have always been drawn to understanding the human mind and what drives behavior, specifically motivation. I believe psychotherapy is an essential process to help us reach our most true and authentic selves.
