Getting to know Sommer Ware
I think Forrest Gump said it best: ?Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.? After all, life is a journey filled with ups and downs, and I understand how unnerving it can be to share your deepest vulnerabilities with another. I'm here to provide a safe space, free from judgment and criticism. My approach to the therapeutic relationship is more of a ?human to human? interaction, rather than ?expert to patient.? Whether it's processing trauma, uprooting unhealthy thought patterns, or learning how to cope and adjust to difficult situations, I'm here to encourage you, challenge you, and support you in building on your strengths.
I earned my Master's in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I've worked in community mental health for over five years, including three years in a wraparound program providing intensive services to youth and their families overcoming trauma, depression, and anxiety. I also have experience working with clients across the lifespan?from children to older adults?who experience ADHD symptoms and adjustment challenges. I've collaborated with systems like DCFS and probation to provide supportive services and advocate for my clients' needs. I'm passionate about working with youth and assisting parents in developing the skills needed to maintain a safe and nurturing environment where their children can flourish. No matter your age, my overall goal is to support you in processing your thoughts and feelings connected to overwhelming circumstances, whether past or present, and to teach you new tips and strategies that empower you to be more confident and competent in overcoming future obstacles.
